"Our mission is to increase research reproducibility and drive the adoption of innovative but trusted analysis techniques. We are creating a unified service to underpin all imaging research conducted by Australians, both nationally and abroad, on which more specific research and development programs can be built. Starting as an institutional project at the University of Sydney in 2017, AIS was formed in 2020 by a grass roots federation of imaging facilities and digital research infrastructure teams under the Australian Research Data Commons Platforms program. We steadily grew with additional ARDC and MRFF Infrastructure grants. In 2025 we officially partnered with the Australian National Imaging Facility forming it's Foundational Digital Research Infrastructure program."
